[00:00:00] Alaska Curtis was murdered in the woods of St. Town. The Curtis case went cold for years, until I was hired by Alaska's own parents.
[00:00:09] At the same time Alaska's brother, Boo, resolved to uncover the circumstances of his death.
[00:00:15] Now that the two of us are in competition, my name is Detective Fin Denver.
[00:00:21] And this is the season 1 and 2 Recap.
[00:00:26] Let's begin from the start. At the start of the beginning, Alaska Curtis lived with his parents in the affluent town of Roslan, the States, on Long Island.
[00:00:36] I called this family a high pressure household. Alaska was a trek and field star, and as younger brother, Boo was a chess prodigy within limits.
[00:00:46] Boo also had a strange quality dim. His face attracted attention, meaning if anyone looked at his face, they became physically unable to look away.
[00:00:58] My classmates happened to glance in my direction and as soon as they did, they were stuck staring at me.
[00:01:04] So by the end of every class, the whole room was looking at me. The teacher couldn't even look around for raised hands while or even right on the board or read from books.
[00:01:15] Alaska held close friendships. Like his friendship with Jeremy Goldberg, all of them tracking field kids at Holy Cross High School.
[00:01:23] Meanwhile, Boo fell in with a band of semi-dilinkwint du Calaisley playing emo kids, including Gloria Johnson and Bobby York.
[00:01:31] Bobby was a brand new goth raised by a reclusives who never left the house.
[00:01:36] So when I was a kid, like a sniper yapper, if you will, I wasn't that loud outside.
[00:01:44] No, never.
[00:01:46] Meanwhile, Boo's friend Gloria expressed interest in him.
[00:01:51] But Boo had already started a relationship with another male student, Tyler.
[00:01:57] That's right, Tyler. When you get over him, let me know. Okay?
[00:02:05] For his same gender relationship, Boo was bullied mercilessly.
[00:02:11] Firstly, he was bullied by the volunteer firefighters, a tight knit group of semi-dilinkwint country music loving reactionaries.
[00:02:19] God, firefighters. This party is going to be full of people who kicked my ass in high school.
[00:02:24] Sometimes literally, Boo was also bullied by Jeremy Goldberg, aka Logan, a friend of Alaska.
[00:02:31] You might remember some of their early conversations.
[00:02:35] So what about you and me, Logan?
[00:02:37] We friends?
[00:02:40] No, not really.
[00:02:42] Not really, huh?
[00:02:44] How would you describe our interactions?
[00:02:46] Sexual.
[00:02:47] You know that's so funny. You're such a funny guy.
[00:02:50] If you're wondering why Jeremy calls himself Logan, we still have no clue.
[00:02:55] Boo's relationship with Alaska himself was sour, and part due to their competition.
[00:03:02] Their competition. Alaska and Gloria graduated in the year of 2018.
[00:03:08] Gloria would become frustrated that she never found a school or job that she wanted.
[00:03:12] While Alaska's track star is crumbling to nothing post-graduation, without a job, Alaska was ejected from the family house.
[00:03:20] He lived on the couches of friends and held parties for teenagers.
[00:03:24] After alienating everyone around him, in the summer of 2019, Alaska held a 20-brifthy party in a forest nicknamed Stumptown,
[00:03:33] specifically in an abandoned building known locally as The Jail House.
[00:03:38] But next to none of Alaska's friends offering their RSVPs, Boo and Gloria promised to make an appearance,
[00:03:44] bringing Bobby and one more friend each.
[00:03:48] Gloria invited her friend, Joe Magarra, the only female firefighter at the Rosalind Fire Department.
[00:03:54] Hi! My name is Joe. I'm just hanging out with not a fire.
[00:03:59] She goes by Joe for short. She's a firefighter, and the firefighters here are...
[00:04:06] You don't want to be around the firefighters here.
[00:04:09] But Joe's pretty harmless as far as I know. She's not as far as I know.
[00:04:14] She's not a white supremacist.
[00:04:18] While Boo invited Emma Wooten, the neurotic daughter of a billionaire who was also a study buddy of Boo.
[00:04:24] I'm popular.
[00:04:28] You need to be flouring to my dadad by me.
[00:04:32] I'm popular but I'm... by myself.
[00:04:36] Jeremy, aka Logan, was the only direct friend of Alaska to actually attend the party during the party.
[00:04:43] Bobby gave a gift to Alaska, which was a letter opener disguised as a comb.
[00:04:48] This would later become the murder weapon.
[00:04:50] By the end of that night, Alaska would be found stabbed.
[00:04:54] Dead.
[00:04:56] See here's what we know.
[00:04:58] Alaska had been stalking Joe for some time for reasons unknown.
[00:05:02] Joe had the motivation, but in the moment that Alaska died, Joe was allegedly setting a fire in the forest.
[00:05:08] With the statute of limitations on ours and past, she is all but confirmed her involvement with the forest fire,
[00:05:15] but her motivations were committing the ours in remain unclear.
[00:05:21] Emma was actually with Alaska shortly before his death.
[00:05:24] The two opened opium poppies in the greenhouse and legged up the unprocessed opium.
[00:05:31] Emma has little to no memory of where she was after this event.
[00:05:35] Jeremy, Alaska's friend, also had motivation to kill Alaska.
[00:05:40] Alaska slept with Jeremy's girlfriend.
[00:05:43] Jeremy actually witnessed Alaska's death that night, but he refuses to declare who killed Alaska.
[00:05:51] Bobby suffering traumatic memory loss and doesn't remember what happened the night of Alaska's death.
[00:05:56] He was found in the woods far from the scene of the crime, with his left hand missing, and his arm bleeding out as hand was never found.
[00:06:06] I believe that boo may have been another building at the same time of the crime.
[00:06:12] A building called the Bughouse, or he would have experienced a mental health episode, punching a mirror until his hand bled.
[00:06:21] Glory's location is a mystery, but we now have some theories about where she might have been.
[00:06:26] Nope, don't worry about that, we'll get to that in another episode.
[00:06:30] Later on, Alaska's body was found who stabbed in the colon.
[00:06:35] A decidedly unwise location at Target.
[00:06:38] If the killer knew what they were doing, they would stab upwards and another ribcage, but let's say the killer didn't know what they were doing, right?
[00:06:43] Or maybe like they were really confident.
[00:06:46] They would have tried to stab him right into the heart head on.
[00:06:50] But they didn't stab in the heart or up the ribcage.
[00:06:53] They stabbed somewhere random.
[00:06:56] They stabbed in the colon.
[00:06:57] If they wanted to kill Alaska, why would they stab him in the colon?
[00:07:00] That's weird.
[00:07:01] Alaska was laid back in a pool.
[00:07:04] It was on the blood.
[00:07:06] The gifted knife was on the ground along with a shoelace.
[00:07:09] Alaska was found without shoes on.
[00:07:12] Shoes were seen outside the jailhouse and later on.
[00:07:15] Alaska's shoes were found in the nearby river.
[00:07:19] Also of note, handling a cheap knife like that should have sliced the stabber across the palm.
[00:07:25] Since a plastic handle, let her opener has no grip.
[00:07:29] We still have no proof that any of the suspect's experience such as slice across their palm.
[00:07:35] After the suspect's found Alaska, and before the ambulance arrived,
[00:07:40] Jeremy saw figure in the woods and dashed outside.
[00:07:44] Chasing them through the forest, the chased individual then turned to shoot Logan
[00:07:50] right in the leg, and ambulance arrived to escort Alaska,
[00:07:53] Jeremy Bobby and Boo, the same France's hospital.
[00:07:58] Jeremy was witness to a paramedic physically assaulting Alaska.
[00:08:04] He's not thrashing us around.
[00:08:06] He's just holding onto Alaska's throat and we're prying him away, and it's quiet.
[00:08:12] It's quiet.
[00:08:14] And then he says, let me do my work, Logan.
[00:08:19] He says my name.
[00:08:21] I don't know that, man.
[00:08:24] Security footage also shows that an orderly, Kinsey Joyce,
[00:08:28] also attempted to assault Alaska once he arrived at the hospital operating room.
[00:08:37] It's inevitable.
[00:08:39] Laura was never seen after the stabbing, and soon as Fald is a missing person.
[00:08:45] Now we fast forward.
[00:08:47] With Glory Gone, the remaining suspects graduate in 2020.
[00:08:52] Boo made a habit of covering up his face with a mask and goggles to cope with his scope of phobia.
[00:08:58] He's also got a dog.
[00:09:00] Alice, Bobby came to work at a P.I. from the very one I work at now,
[00:09:07] so for some time, Bobby was my coworker.
[00:09:10] It was in 2022 that Boo's on reflection spoke to him,
[00:09:14] telling him that if he could solve the mystery of Alaska's death,
[00:09:19] he could bring back Alaska from the dead.
[00:09:23] Meanwhile, I got my first paycheck from his parents to look into the cold case,
[00:09:27] and some sick, twisted fate.
[00:09:30] Both of us applied to Long Island True Crime Audio Project,
[00:09:33] and were both accepted.
[00:09:35] That project would come to me known as Who Kill the Alaska,
[00:09:39] and Boo and I became co-hosts long before we even met.
[00:09:43] Then I got some weird voice mail.
[00:09:46] Pain Begets Joy, fear Begets Boy,
[00:09:49] stopping investigating Alaska's death.
[00:09:52] If you pursue this issue further,
[00:09:53] I will destroy Lookaria, and I will go after your parents.
[00:09:58] So there's that.
[00:10:00] Boo, what looking for Alaska's killer in the suspects,
[00:10:03] and said found his so-called found family.
[00:10:07] They're solving it together.
[00:10:08] They had their own theory for a little while,
[00:10:11] that Alaska was somehow killed by the ghost of Harvey Peris,
[00:10:16] the tobacco magnate who once owned Stumptown's land.
[00:10:21] Boo's search eventually led him to Gloria herself,
[00:10:25] who he found buried in the ground alive.
[00:10:30] Gloria, however, was a zombie with warm blood and a beating heart.
[00:10:35] She spoke in random sets of words,
[00:10:37] and was unresponsive to virtually all stimuli around her.
[00:10:42] So now we're getting recent.
[00:10:44] I finally met Boo, who had some whack-job scheme
[00:10:47] to travel back in time at the bottom of Stumptown's lake
[00:10:51] in order to return to when Alaska and Gloria were both alive.
[00:10:55] Boo jumped into freezing water, and Joe jumped in after him.
[00:11:00] Boo definitely didn't travel in that lake,
[00:11:03] but he did speak to a strange voice, the voice of Alaska.
[00:11:08] We later found out that at the bottom of that lake is the gate to Pergatory.
[00:11:14] Pergatory, all of our suspects are strange for a reason.
[00:11:19] They're called outsiders, and Pergatory is where they come from.
[00:11:26] Every outside or has a true name and an idiosyncrasy.
[00:11:31] Boo's true name is pain and pain,
[00:11:34] what he is, like some sort of quasi-duty of suffering.
[00:11:38] His pain is inescapable right here.
[00:11:40] So I hear if you have a fear of being watched in a jawline out of...
[00:11:45] ...greet with olig.
[00:11:49] I can understand how being magnetically attractive is also torment,
[00:11:54] Joe's true name is selfishness.
[00:11:56] So that's her.
[00:11:57] Maybe we can think her for a lot of what's wrong in the world.
[00:12:01] If you've met Josephine McGurro,
[00:12:03] maybe she's at folk for the world's injustices.
[00:12:07] My personal feelings aside,
[00:12:08] Joe has the ability to read people's emotions,
[00:12:12] not through sympathy or empathy,
[00:12:15] but by looking at a person's torso and seeing a whafting,
[00:12:18] colorful shapes.
[00:12:20] That only she seems to see.
[00:12:23] Swerling blue means worry.
[00:12:25] Hot pink means admiration and so on.
[00:12:30] An interesting consequence of this is that Joe can determine
[00:12:34] what's with near perfect certainty.
[00:12:37] Whether someone is lying or not,
[00:12:39] one deficit is that she can only see things within 33 feet.
[00:12:44] Alaska's true name is Guardian.
[00:12:46] I have a few questions about that, but I'll keep them to myself.
[00:12:50] This also confirms that Alaska was an outsider in life.
[00:12:55] We may never know the true names of the others,
[00:12:58] but we do know some of the strangest parts of them.
[00:13:02] The ability is the easiest spot.
[00:13:04] She can become unnoticeable to others, physically visible,
[00:13:08] but completely forgotten.
[00:13:09] If she becomes unnoticeable,
[00:13:11] but she gets herself noticed,
[00:13:13] her identity becomes impossible to discern,
[00:13:16] and it's a struggle to even put together her individual features into her face.
[00:13:20] The experience can be uncanny or disturbing to the observer.
[00:13:25] And then there's the problem of glory, Alaska, Jeremy, and Bobby.
[00:13:29] I can't put together what their capabilities are.
[00:13:33] Maybe you can, maybe there's something I've missed,
[00:13:35] and I just haven't realized it.
[00:13:38] One more thing to know.
[00:13:39] Logan claims that the night Alaska died,
[00:13:43] Bobby attempted to stab him in the arm.
[00:13:45] Amit's these claims, Bobby has been fired from the P.I. Agency.
[00:13:49] I work at.
[00:13:51] Now, let's talk really recent.
[00:13:55] Mirror, Amoria.
[00:14:04] Boo, we'll struck with a strange dream about the lake of Stuntown.
[00:14:09] He was overcome by a need to go back to that lake where he met Alaska.
[00:14:13] Meanwhile, we fill in some weird, weird news.
[00:14:19] Joe Magaro is in the fucking mafia.
[00:14:22] I know, right?
[00:14:24] Also, her accents fake.
[00:14:26] What the fuck are you talking about?
[00:14:28] Get on the ground!
[00:14:30] Why are you talking like that?
[00:14:32] 21 years old.
[00:14:35] Of course, I don't have a long island back then.
[00:14:38] When we discover Joe's place in the mafia,
[00:14:40] she considered killing us for breaking the mafia's coat of silence.
[00:14:44] But we got out with our lives.
[00:14:46] However, Boo ended up following some of my glory into Stuntown's lake.
[00:14:51] Ask for what happened after that.
[00:14:53] Hey, your guess is as good as mine.
[00:14:55] But I understand that Boo meant his reflection down there.
[00:14:59] And Boo's reflection is now in just sort of dead.
[00:15:03] And where he's body too, has now died forever.
[00:15:08] But I think that's it.
[00:15:10] I think you're caught up now.
[00:15:12] It's been nothing short of a wild adventure.
[00:15:16] And such a detective file.
[00:15:19] I didn't write a script for this part.
[00:15:22] Just kind of winging it.
[00:15:25] Sorry, babbling.
[00:15:26] Anyway, welcome back to who killed Alaska.
[00:15:29] Are you ready?
[00:15:30] For season three, that's finally here.
[00:15:33] Now let's fucking go.
